Rahul Dravid, Mary Kom set to be honoured with Padma Bhushan

Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Rahul Dravid is set to be honoured with a Padma Bhushan award, the third highest civilian honour. The 40-year-old Dravid, the third highest run-getter in Test cricket, scored close to 25000 runs in international cricket before calling it a day late last year. The Padma Bhusan is yet another feather in the cap for the cricketer dubbed “The Wall”.

Apart from Dravid, Mary Kom has also been chosen to receive the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. The boxer had this to say,”Although boxing is going through difficult times, personally this has been a great achievement and I feel elated that all my efforts have got the recognition.”

Olympic heroes Vijay Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt are also set to be awarded for their medal-winning performances, with the duo set to receive Padmi Shri awards. Vijay Kumar won silver in the 25m rapid fire pistol shooting event, where Yogeshwar Dutt  won a bronze in the 60kg free style category.
