Rahul Dravid to deliver MAK Pataudi Lecture in New Delhi
India’s U-19 coach and batting legend Rahul Dravid will deliver the fourth Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Lecture in New Delhi on Tuesday. Members of the Indian team and the visiting South African side will be in attendance for the lecture ahead of the fourth Test, which starts on Thursday at Feroz Shah Kotla.
Several top Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials, including president and ICC chairman Shashank Manohar and secretary Anurag Thakur, will attend the lecture, which was started in memory of formed Indian skipper Pataudi, who passed away in 2011.
"This year, the fourth edition of the (MAK Pataudi) memorial lecture will be delivered by legendary batsman and former India captain Rahul Dravid," BCCI said.
“Dravid has been one of the pioneers of India cricket and served the game with utmost honesty. His cricketing acumen is well known and his passion and dedication towards the game is unmatched. He is currently the India ‘A’ & U-19 coach grooming young talent at the grass root level.
"The event is set to take place on the 1st of December in Delhi. The Lecture will be telecast live on www.bcci.tv from 7 PM onwards,” it added.
MAK Pataudi captained India at the age of 21 and led the country in 40 of his 46 Tests. He passed away at the age of 70 on September 11, 2011. Following his demise, the BCCI started the annual MAK Pataudi Memorial Lecture as a tribute to one of India’s finest skippers.
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar delivered the inaugural lecture in Chennai, while two of India’s most prominent Test players of the last two decades, Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman spoke in the following years.
