Match till now :
After winning the toss and electing to bat, South Africa found themselves in early trouble as Trent Boult removed the opening pair of Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla cheaply to reduce them to 31 for 2 in the 11th over.
Faf du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw then began to rebuild the innings, putting on an 83-run stand for the third wicket before the latter was dismissed for 39, caught by Martin Guptill off the bowling of Corey Anderson.
Out walked AB de Villiers and in the company of a well-set du Plessis, pushed the scoring rate along, before opening out and scoring with a lot more freedom.
But just when it seemed like the Proteas would post a huge score on the board, rain made its presence felt at Eden Park, with South Africa on 216 for 3 after 38 overs. Du Plessis was not out on 82 and de Villiers was on 60 off 38 balls.
Reserve day tomorrow if rain continues. Cut off tonight is around 8-40 for 20/20. Target 167. Cut off for SA innings around 7-10.
