Rain threatens to wash out the New Zealand vs Australia World Cup match

Australia’s training session was interrupted by rain

Australia’s match against New Zealand, which is tipped to decide the pool toppers, may be washed out after heavy rain drenched Auckland on Friday. Australia have already had a match called off due to rain – vs Bangladesh – and they would definitely not want another one to suffer the same fate.

The match-day forecast predicts morning cloud and the odd afternoon shower. Australia’s training session was halted by rain, but captain Michael Clarke believes the match will go ahead and hoped that the fans get to enjoy this clash between the hosts.

Clarke’s comeback was postponed due to the match against Bangladesh being called off and he hoped that Auckland stays dry for the Pool A match. He said, “Don`t look out of the window.

“There is rain but the forecast is very good for tomorrow, so hopefully the rain stays away as this is a big game for both the teams as well as the fans,” said Clarke.

Australia, who have 3 points from 2 matches, trail New Zealand by three points in the group. All the tickets for this much-anticipated match have been sold out with 40,000 fans expected to turn out for the game.
