Rajeev Shukla: 'Parvez Rasool will definitely get his chance'
The vice president of the BCCI, Mr. Rajeev Shukla has taken a stance on the Parvez Rasool issue and has said that the all-rounder will definitely get his chance.
There has been criticism from certain quarters over the non-selection of Rassol in India’s playing eleven in the recently concluded five match One Day International series in Zimbabwe, according to reports from NDTV. One of the biggest voices of discontent is that of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief minister Mr.Omar Abdullah, who has said that Rasool was given a raw deal.
Reacting to these recent happenings Shukla said: “Selecting a player for a match depends on many conditions and it is a call taken by the team management. When someone gets selected in team India, it is a very big achievement. Rasool has been selected because of his hard work. It is the team management, captain and coach to decide the playing eleven depending on playing conditions. There is no need to worry as Rasool will definitely get his chance.”
Earlier yesterday, Omar Abdullah tweeted to give Rasool a chance in the last ODI match. “Come on BCCI give the young man (Rasool) a chance to prove himself.” he had written.
“Did you really have to take him all the way to Zimbabwe to demoralise him? Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to just do it at home?” he concluded.
Rasool had a fantastic domestic season last year picking up 33 wickets and scoring 594 runs. He was pushed into the Indian team, following a great game against the visiting Australian’s in which he picked up a haul of seven wickets in just one innings.
Rasool is the only member of the squad who did not get a game in the series, and with him being such a positive influence in the state of J & K, there is hope that he will get his opportunity soon.
