Gautam Gambhir made a stroke-filled 147 against Odisha
 

Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir made a huge statement ahead of the Test series against England by scoring a stroke-filled 147 against Odisha. Gambhir, who made a comeback to the national team after three years in the third and final Test against New Zealand, helped his side take a first-innings lead against Odisha at Mohali. Along with Gambhir, Rishabh Pant was the star of the show for Delhi as he scored a 56-ball 60.

At the BKC Kurla complex in Mumbai, out of favour Indian batsman Robin Uthappa registered a century and was backed well by his skipper Karun Nair. At the end of day 2, Karnataka were 223/2 with both Uthappa and Nair batting on 108 each.

Baroda captain Deepak Hooda missed out on a deserving triple-century against Punjab as he was left stranded at 293 when his team was bowled out for 529. Tamil Nadu’s Kaushik Gandhi and N Jagadeesan registered their maiden first-class 100 as the Abhinav Mukund-led side piled on the runs and ended the day 2 at 547/7.

In an interesting battle at Guwahati, Himachal Pradesh were all out for just 36 runs against Hyderabad as pacer Akash Bhandari bowled three overs without conceding a single run and scalped 4 wickets. In return, Hyderabad were reeling at 99-7 when the day ended. Rishi Dhawan took 6 out of the 7 wickets HP managed to take.
