Ranji Trophy: Jharkhand on good footing against Karnataka in Group A
Mysore - Jharkahand batted themselves into a sound position by making 364 in their first innings against Karnataka who were 123 for one in reply at stumps on the second day of their Group A Ranji Trophy league match here Friday.
Resuming at their overnight total of 214 for five, Jharkhand were boosted by a fine knock of 85 (113b, 14×4) by skipper Shahbaz Nadeem who complemented Saurabh Tiwary’s 77 (195b, 6×4, 2×6) to help visitors put up a challenging score.
Pacer Sreenath Arvind and left-arm spinner K.P. Appanna came away with four wickets apiece for the hosts.
In reply, Karnataka were off the blocks in quick time as openers Mayank Agarwal (63 batting, 93b, 8×4, 1×6) and K.L. Rahul (33) put on 61 runs, Agarwal then found an able partner in Kunal Kapoor (27 batting) as the duo added a further 62 runs for the second wicket by close of play.
