Indore, Feb 19 (IANS) Karnataka consolidated their grip on their Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Assam as they piled on a huge second innings total of 415 runs for five declared at the end of day four here on Thursday.

Chasing an impossible target of 682 runs in their second innings, Assam were 32 for no loss at stumps. Adding onto their overnight score of 137, Ravikumar Samarth (178) and Robin Uthappa (77) preyed on the Assam bowling attack to notch up a partnership of 173 runs.
