Ranji Trophy round-up: Punjab salvage draw after massive 1st innings deficit
Ahmedabad, Jan 16 - Batsman Uday Kaul (unbeaten 67) and Taruwar Kohli (47 not out) batted bravely to help Punjab force a draw in a Ranji Trophy Group B encounter against Gujarat here on Friday.
Punjab began the last day on 219 for four in their first innings, trailing Gujarat by a huge margin of 294 in the sixth round match.
Kohli went on to make 71 and Gurkeerat Singh contributed 49, but that did not prevent Punjab from getting bowled out for 362, against Gujarat's 513 for eight declared.
Gujarat enforced the follow-on, but a strong reply from the visitors, led by Kaul, helped the visitors eke out a draw, who reached 120 for one in their second innings.
