Rating Australia's Best Lineup For The ODI World Cup

Australia v South Africa - 1st ODI
Australia v South Africa - 1st ODI

Back in 2015, the Australian team won the World Cup after a fantastic victory against New Zealand in a very memorable contest, but that was 4 years ago, and the team is looking vastly different right about now. They've lost veterans like Michael Clarke and Shane Watson, and the team is still struggling to find its identity, but with plenty of top notch talent, all they need to do is find the right blend of players.

The test team has been struggling to find in form players to join the squad and keep that great blend, but the ODI squad has no such struggles, as some of the hottest players in the country are in great form, and if the selectors indeed to pick this team based on recent form, the Aussies will be hard to beat. Sure, England, South Africa, India and New Zealand all present massive obstacles if the team is to win back-to-back World Cup's, but with a very deep batting lineup led by Glenn Maxwell and David Warner, and a lethal bowling attack led by Pat Cummins, they're in with a shot.

It's been a tumultuous year for Australian Cricket overall, but with the World Cup and an Ashes series in England in 2019, it's their time to set things right, and with the World Cup up first, here is the playing XI that we think gives them the best chance to defend their World Cup. Obviously, injuries and resting occurs throughout a tournament, but think is the ideal XI that Australia would play in its biggest games.
