Ravichandran Ashwin trolls fan who attacked him on his inefficiency in foreign conditions
Ravichandran Ashwin has been on a rampage in 2015, being instrumental in India’s Test series wins against Sri Lanka and South Africa. Racking up 62 wickets in 9 matches this year, he is miles ahead of any other bowler in terms of wickets taken in this year.
However, critics will find something to pick on even in the best of things, especially when the issue is the Indian cricket team. One frequent accusation levelled at Ashwin, despite his brilliant year, is that he is ineffective on foreign conditions, and an achiever only in subcontinent conditions.
This was the line of reasoning followed by an India fan, who also felt he should make his opinion known to Ashwin. The India player gave an aggressive reply to the fan – one the fan is likely to remember for the rest of his life, and not in a very happy way.
Ashwin’s Test captain Virat Kohli had said this week that anybody who has no experience of playing for the country has no right to comment on the actions of performances of those who do. It seems this is a maxim the whole of the Indian team has taken to heart.
The fan tweeted to Ashwin: “you can show your performance only in Asia ... Foreign condition you are waste there are many bowlers perform more that u”
This is what Ashwin replied (translated): “Go and focus on getting your kids educated instead of worrying about me, did I ask your permission before deciding to take up cricket?”
