Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay to make special appearances in a Tamil film
The Indian cricketing duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay is set to make cameo appearances in a Tamil film named Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings. The plot of the film is supposedly based on street cricket, which is a pretty common sight in India, as it also revolves around a number of themes such as friendship, love and rivalry.
The movie is a sequel of Chennai 600028 which was released back in 2007 and was a huge success at the box office which prompted the director, Venkat Prabhu to add a second part to it.
The first part was also remade in a couple of other languages such as Sinhalese (Super Six) and Kannada (Bangalore 560023).
Produced by ‘Black Tickets’ production, the shooting of Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings is set to start soon as it was officially launched on 4 April 2016 with a formal puja.
The poster of the movie along with the background score of Yuvan Shankar Raja was released earlier this year in the month of February.
This film would be a much-needed change for Ravichandran Ashwin who has had a forgetful ICC World T20 2016 campaign. The 29-year-old had picked up just four wickets in the recently concluded tournament, two of which had come in a single match against Bangladesh.
Both the cricketers are currently preparing themselves for the upcoming Indian Premier League which is set to start from 9 April 2016.
Incidentally, both Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay used to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL until 2013.
However from this year, the 29-year-old right arm off-spinner will be playing for Rising Pune Supergiants following the Chennai-based franchise’s 2-year-ban from the domestic T20 tournament due to match fixing allegations.
Murali Vijay, on the other, will be playing for Kings XI Punjab for whom he has been playing since the previous season of the Indian Premier League.
