Ravichandran Ashwin launches world's first auction fantasy league

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in partnership with Wisden India has co-created the world's first auction fantasy league for cricket fans.

"It has got a feature which none of the other games (Fantasy) have," Ashwin was quoted as saying. Speaking about the league, Ashwin said, "This has got the first ever auction way of picking your team. In other games, everybody can pick Virat Kohli and R Ashwin but in this game, the user needs to sample size his own team. If one user picks R Ashwin (in auction), the other can't pick me."

Ashwin says the fantasy league has a unique way of picking a team

The auctions will run for one and half hours and begin just two hours before the scheduled start for the games. The game has been designed keeping in mind the match-days. So there will be fresh options every day before the beginning of the games. Fantasy league supporters need to have their teams registered at www.cric-trade.com to join the new  fantasy game and be eligible for the bidding process.

This league is a first of its kind, its true but there have been other Fantasy Leagues which have done very well too. The fantasy league of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a huge hit among users. Football has not been very far too with regards to it, as the Premier Fantasy League is a rage too.

On the cricketing front, Ashwin is currently in the United States of America where India is scheduled to take part in two T20Is against the West Indies.  The Chennai-born tweaker has already taken 50 wickets from his 43 T20Is. Once back in the country after the two-match series, Ashwin will ply his trade in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

The spinner is coming off a successful Test series in the West Indies helping Virat Kohli’s side clinch the four-match Test series 2-0. Ashwin was brilliant with the bat and ball as he scored 236 runs and collected 17 wickets thereby collecting the Man-of-the-Series award.

The 29-year-old will expect to perform this well in the TNPL and has also been helping out his side, the Dindigul Dragons, with useful inputs on how to shape up the squad and the team’s preparation in general.
