IPL 2016: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) introduce home and away jerseys

Team RCB is led by Virat Kohli, and has the likes of AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and Mitchell Starc

A very rare phenomenon will be seen during this year’s Indian Premier League – a team shall be sporting two sets of jerseys. Royal Challengers Bangalore, arguably the most star-studded outfit among the eight teams, showcased their home and away jerseys for the 2016 season on Thursday.

They are the second team in the IPL to have come up with this, following what football teams have been doing for many years. Rajasthan Royals did this in the 2010 season, but it failed to catch on. It may be likely that other IPL franchises will follow suit soon in having two sets of jerseys for their players.

Both the jerseys are significant departures from the RCB jersey of previous editions. Red remains the primary colour for RCB’s home jersey, but the blue and yellow have been replaced by black.

The primary colour of the away jersey is black, while red is the secondary colour.

The change in the way RCB will look on the field is in line with the change in management at the franchise. Kingfisher are not the main sponsors of RCB anymore, they have been replaced by Hero Cycles.
