India picked up their first victory in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 against Bangladesh

After a humiliating defeat in the first T20I against Sri Lanka, the men in blue registered their first win in the tri-series against Bangladesh. It was a dominating performance from team India as they won the game by a big margin of six wickets.

Winning the toss, skipper Rohit Sharma asked Bangladesh to bat first on a track which was not the flattest. Bangladesh struggled to find the middle of the willow almost throughout their innings and ended up with a below-par total of 139.

Their innings never took off, and whenever they started to get a bit of momentum there was a fall of a wicket. They were four down pretty early in their innings and a couple of scratchy 30s from Liton Das and Sabbir Rahman helped them to almost reach the 140-run mark.

With a low total to chase, there was no pressure on the Indian batsmen. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started off the innings pretty well going at close to 9 an over before two wickets fell quickly.

Dhawan continued his good run as he went on to register his second half-century in the series. In spite of a good spell from Rubel Hossain, the Tigers lost the game with an over remaining.

Here are the reasons behind Bangladesh's loss.

#1 Failure of the opening pair

Bangladesh had a sluggish start to the game with the bat

Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal have been in terrific touch off-late and more often than not they get their side off to a sublime start in the first few overs. Opening the innings in recent past this pair got runs at a rate of knots against oppositions like South Africa and Sri Lanka in the shortest format of the game.

The Tigers rely upon this pair to get them off to a start, but things didn't go according to their plans in the second T20I of the Nidahas Trophy as both of them were caught struggling against the Indian bowling attack.
