"Recent retention policy orchestrated by Srini for his own agenda" says former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi
Lalit Modi, who was the pioneer of the Indian Premier League, has accused current BCCI chairman N Srinivasan of introducing a new and increased retention policy primarily to suit his franchise, Chennai Super Kings.
The former IPL commissioner took to Twitter to voice his opinion, and did not hold back in his rant.
“Case and point is the recent retention policy orchestrated by Srini for his own agenda and that is we know what,” he said.
All IPL teams are now allowed to retain 5 players with an additional ‘Right to match’ card, essentially making it 6 players, as opposed to only 4 in previous editions.
Also, Lalit Modi has come out in support of a recent statement made by Jagmohan Dalmiya, where the Bengali calls for the desperate need to “clean-up cricket” before IPL 7.
Modi tweeted, “I agree with Mr Dalmia — I have been saying that for a while. But Srini wants it his way. Hope courts intervene,”
Chennai Super Kings have retained MS Dhoni, R Ashwin, R Jadeja, S Raina and D Bravo, and are most likely to use their ‘Right to match’ card for Faf du Plessis or Michael Hussey, arguably benefiting the most with the altered retention rules.
