Bhuvneshwar Kumar to miss first Test against Australia
According to reports, Bhuvneshwar Kumar could miss the first, maybe even the second test due to a left ankle injury. He also missed training sessions on Sunday.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was adjudged best cricketer of the year by the BCCI, is a vital asset in the Indian team. He was the highest wicket-taker in the test series against England. But he’s an extremely efficient lower order batsman. He’s notched up an efficient 343 runs in 11 test matches with his best being 63*.
BCCI was contemplating on withdrawing Bhuvi from the squad for the test series. It was then agreed upon that he would recover quicker under the team’s physio and his team.
Although the selectors will be tempted to rush him back into the playing team against the Aussies Down Under it will be advised to do so. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will definitely play a huge part in the upcoming tri-series featuring England, Australia and India and of course the World Cup which India will be defending this time.
In the meanwhile, the team managements statement about the above issue read as "is recovering from his left ankle pain and he could be available for first Test selection".
