Reports: Arjun Tendulkar to play role of young Sachin Tendulkar in biopic
The teaser video of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic “Sachin - A Billion Dreams” has already swept millions off their feet.
The 42-year-old batsman had previously tweeted about the launch of the teaser video on his official Twitter account. On 14 April the Master Blaster himself shared the video on his Facebook page.
The Mumbai-born cricketer, who is often dubbed the ‘God of Cricket’ by his fans, has more than 34,000 international runs to his name. In his illustrious career, he achieved every possible feat in the sport and became the first cricketer to have a century of centuries in international cricket.
Reportedly, the legend will portray himself in the film and the teaser had showcased his journey from a “wild child” to a “virtuous hero”.
Arjun will play the younger version of Sachin in the film
Now, The Times of India has reported that Sachin’s son, Arjun Tendulkar, will play the younger version of the batting legend in the film. Reportedly the makers tried hard to find a young boy who has as good cricketing skills as the Master had in his teenage days, but they couldn’t find one. The idea of Arjun portraying his father came on board later.
The makers wanted someone who looked like Sachin and also could carry his body language and mannerisms on screen. Arjun himself is a cricketer and has played for the Mumbai Under-16 team. His looks as well as his cricketing skills, convinced the makers of the film to cast him as the young Sachin.
Apparently, another young actor named Mayuresh has been finalised to play Sachin’s elder brother Nitin.
The makers of the film have revealed that close to forty percent of the 120-minute long film will feature real footage of the right-handed batsman’s legendary matches. The biopic will also give a close view of his personal life with portions of the film having been shot at his Bandra house.
