Reports: ICC to investigate Hong Kong's World T20 qualifier match
It has been reported by the ESPNcricinfo that an investigation will be taking place in the World T20 2016 Qualifier’s match between Afghanistan and Hong Kong.
The reputed cricket website quoted that the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) noticed unusual betting patterns on the game and is to speak to leading betting firms, including Betfair, in an attempt to gain a greater understanding of what occurred.
Hong Kong cricket team defeated Afghanistan in the first qualifying playoff by chasing down 162 runs target in 20 overs. The match was played at on July 21, 2015, at The Village, Malahide, Dublin.
The victory booked Hong Kong’s direct entry to the 2016 World T20 which is going be held in India. News bureaus haven’t reported about the news much as it will take some time to get some stagnant reports.
Afghanistan’s hopes are still alive as they still have one qualifying playoff match left. They will face Papua New Guinea today.
