Reports: KL Rahul to join Indian team for NZ T20Is
What's the story?
After a horrible last few weeks, Indian cricketers, Hardik Pandya, and KL Rahul took a breath of relief on Friday as BCCI's Committee of Administrators lifted the suspension which was imposed on the duo after controversial comments in a talk-show.
Soon after the announcement, Pandya was included in India's squad for ongoing New Zealand tour whereas Rahul got a place in India A side for the one-dayers against England Lions.
Meanwhile, reportedly, Rahul is also going to travel New Zealand to replace the rested Virat Kohli in the T20I squad.
In case you didn't know
Pandya and Rahul made some misogynistic, racist and sexist comments in the talk show, Koffee with Karan a few weeks ago and after the show was aired, the duo faced a huge backlash. Later, they were suspended by BCCI pending inquiry.
There were talks going on that they might have to face an extended ban, however, CoA on Thursday revoked the suspension albeit temporarily.
The heart of the matter
Pertinently, Pandya was given the ticket to New Zealand for the remaining four ODIs while as Rahul was included in India A team for the home assignment against England Lions.
In the meantime, a report in The Times of India suggests that the opening batsman, Rahul would be also flying to New Zealand for the T20I series in Kohli's absence.
BCCI recently announced that Kohli will be rested for final two ODIs and T20I series against Kiwis. So, Rahul could be handy for Men in Blue in the three-match series.
What's next?
Kohli's men looked completely dominant in the first ODI against the hosts, posting a big win by 8 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The second ODI is scheduled to take place on Saturday at Bay Oval.
