Mumbai: India’s chief cricket selector, Sandip Patil, Wednesday denied reports that he had spoken to Sachin Tendulkar to discuss about his future after batting great’s landmark 200th Test match against the West Indies slated for November.

Ending all speculations, Patil said that no such decision has been taken by the selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“I haven’t met Sachin in the past 10 months,” Patil told TV channels.

Patil rubbished news reports that he had discussed anything with Tendulkar about his future after the 200th Test match.

“All the news reports on Tendulkar are baseless. Why should I speak or discuss anything related to his 200th Test or his retirement,” said Patil.

Patil also said that Tendulkar in all likelihood may tour South Africa, if the series gets the green signal.

A top daily, quoting an unnamed selector, had said that Patil had discussed with Tendulkar about his future after the 200th Test match.

“Patil told Tendulkar that after his 200th Test, it will only be his form and not his past record that will matter when selectors pick the team for future Tests, it is learnt. Those in the know say that days after the West Indies series was finalised, Patil spoke to BCCI chief N.Srinivasan seeking clarity on Tendulkar,” the report said.

The BCCI also rubbished the report saying it is baseless.
