Reports: Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni among senior players to turn out for India 'A' against Bangladesh 'A'

MS Dhoni has been out of competitive cricket action since the ODI series in Bangladesh in June

The BCCI has announced a two-week tour of Bangladesh A team starting on September 16 which will feature three 'One Dayers' (List A) matches and a three-day game against India A in Bengaluru. It has been reported by RoyalChallengers that their captain Virat Kohli is to feature in the series, alongside MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu.

Kohli had featured in the India ‘A’ team in July to prepare for the Sri Lanka series, and the reason for the involvement of the host of senior players in the September series against the Bangladeshi side is similar – preparation for the long South Africa series that is to follow, starting from October 2.

The senior India team will attend a short fitness and conditioning camp in Bengaluru in September, which is why it is convenient that some of the players will also play some matches to get valuable match practice before what promises to be a gruelling and hard-fought series.

ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also been out of match-practice for a long time, and his showing in the September series will be paid a lot of attention to. However, Dhoni is also scheduled to play in a charity match in England on 17 September.

After the series against India A, Bangladesh A will play against Ranji champions Karnataka in a three-dayer at the Gangotri Glades in Mysuru from September 22-24.

Schedule for India A vs. Bangladesh A
