Video: Ricky Ponting scores 16 runs in 2 balls

During the Super 8s, which were quite popular in Australia in the 1990s, a number of rules were modified to lure in more viewers into the game in the pre-T20 era. Each team consisted of 8 players (hence the name Super 8s) and every six was counted as a 8.

Here, we see Ricky Pointing hit two consecutive balls over the fence on the leg side. While under normal rules, that would result in 12 runs, but in Super 8 cricket, it is 16 runs with each hit over the fence regarded as a 8.
