What's the story?

The young star of Kolkata Knight Riders, Rinku Singh has kept his foot in the wrong the place after IPL 2019. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended Rinku for 3 months because of violation of their rules and regulations. The board has banned him for the period of 90 days for his participation in an unauthorized T20 league in Abu Dhabi.

The background

Kolkata Knight Riders had a bad IPL season in 2019 as they could win only 6 out of their 14 matches. The young lad from Uttar Pradesh named Rinku Singh was a part of this Kolkata based franchise in IPL 2019 which was a matter of pride for him. However, he did not get more chances to prove his worth in the side as the star players had already occupied the spots in the playing XI. Rinku Singh has been donning the purple jersey for the last 3 years in the IPL. But just after the 2019 season of IPL, Rinku Singh has landed himself in big trouble.

The heart of the matter

After the IPL season, BCCI named Rinku Singh in India A squad which was all set to play the 2nd unofficial Test match against Sri Lanka A squad from 31 March 2019. But, they have now suspended Rinku Singh from playing cricket for 3 months from 1st June 2019 to 31st August 2019, which means he will not take part in the unofficial Test.

The reason behind this suspension is that the cricketer did not take the permission from BCCI before taking part in an unauthorized T20 league in Abu Dhabi.

The BCCI release stated that:

"As per the BCCI norms, a player registered with the Board cannot play in any tournaments abroad without the Board's permission. Mr. Rinku Singh therefore has been suspended with immediate effect for a period of three months starting June 1, 2019."

What's next?

Rinku Singh will not be able to play any form of cricket until the 1st of September.
