What's the story?

Rishabh Pant on Saturday revealed that former Indian cricketer Kiran More helped him give a solid performance from behind the wickets in the Australia Test series after a horrible England tour.

The youngster faced a lot of criticism after not doing well in the challenging English conditions with the gloves. However, he made an impressive comeback in the following assignment against Australia.

In case you didn't know

Rishabh Pant was a busy name as India finished a historical Australia tour recently. The wicket-keeper batsman not only made headlines for his banters behind the wicket but did equally well with the bat and gloves in the series. The southpaw went on to take 20 catches in the series, including world record-equalling 11 at Adelaide.

Pant had earlier given away plenty of extras in the England tour, where it's always a bit difficult to keep wickets, making people question his skills with the gloves.

The heart of the matter

Proving the critics wrong, Pant produced exceedingly good performances in Australia, which he said was largely due to Kiran More's help.

"Keeping in England was an altogether different experience. After that, I worked with Kiran sir at the NCA on a few specific areas. It included hand-positioning and body posture. Every keeper has distinct movement and I tweaked it a little and it worked". Pant told PTI in an exclusive interview.

The 21-year-old also mentioned that as a new-comer, one should always try to learn things.

"When you make it to the team at a young age, the more you are keen to learn, the better you get at utilising the opportunities that come your way," He added.

What's next?

Rishabh broke into the Indian ODI squad for the home series against Australia. He would be looking to grab this opportunity and earn a spot in the World Cup team.
