Robin Uthappa racing against time to be fit for KPL and CLT20
The key figure of Kolkata Knight Riders’ title winning run in IPL 2014, Robin Uthappa might be ruled out of the next month’s Champions League T20 competition with “knee problems,” reports thatcricket.com
The Karnataka batsman is committed to taking part in the city based Karnataka Premier League [KPL] in the state after being picked up at the auction for the highest bid of 5.3 lakhs. The report further claims that the 28-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation following his knee surgery. The cricketer has not engaged himself in his team Bellary Tuskers’ training sessions so far.
The Tuskers are scheduled to play their first match of the season against Bijapur Bulls on August 30 in Mysore. The captain of India A side in the recently concluded quadrangular ODI series in Australia also did not make an appearance in their team’s launch in Bangalore on Tuesday.
The tournament is being held for the first time since 2010 after being found in 2009. The KPL 2014 runs till September 12 – a day before the qualifying stages of CLT20 are scheduled for.
Uthappa’s Knight Riders will be up against Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural match of the league phase in Hyderabad on the 17th of September.
