Robin Uthappa, Unmukt Chand steer India A to win over NZ A

Robin Uthappa’s hundred steers India A to a six-wicket win

Riding on a 178-run partnership between Robin Uthappa and Unmukt Chand, India A defeated visitors New Zealand A by six wickets in the first unofficial ODI at Visakhapatnam.

Visitors posted a target of 258 runs after winning the toss and electing to bat first.  Daryl Mitchell top scored for New Zealand A with 51, which was laced with three sixes and two fours. The other notable contributor was Anton Devcich with 48, which included seven fours. Four India A, Dhawal Kulkarni, Rahul Sharma and Ashok Maneria picked up three wickets each.

India A chased down the target in 45th over thanks to a 178-run opening partnership between Robin Uthappa and skipper Unmukt Chand.

The Karnataka opener scored a delightful hundred, eventually losing his wicket in 38th over to Adam Milne, while Chand scored 94 runs off just 88 deliveries.

For Kiwis, Matt Henry and Ish Sodi were particularly expensive as Uthappa and Chand smashed them all over the park. Both bowlers went at over 8 runs an over.

With this win India A have taken a 1-0 lead in a three match series.
