Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja to undergo fitness test on Saturday
The quartet of Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja will undergo an extremely crucial fitness test on February 7, 24 hours before India take the field against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in the first of their two warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup.
A top source in the Indian team management told PTI that whoever among the four players clears the test will play against the Aussies the following day and added that none of the players from the squad are heading home for the time being.
"There will be a two-part fitness test of these four players. They will undergo a fitness test on February 7 and those who pass the test will then be examined in match situation against Australia the very next day. After that, the team management will take a call. As of now, no one is going back home," the source said.
Rohit most likely to play in warm-up match
The source further added that Rohit looks most likely to take the field on Sunday, considering that the right-hander has recovered close to 80% from the hamstring injury which forced him to miss his side’s last three games of the Carlton Mid tri-series while the other three still need time to recover from their respective injuries.
"Rohit has recovered around 80 percent but same can't be said about the others. Ishant has a knee injury while Bhuvneshwar is recuperating from ankle injury while Ravindra Jadeja is coming back from shoulder injury," the source said.
He also dismissed rumours that the players were staying at a resort: "The entire squad is staying at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Adelaide. Any information regarding spending time at a resort is baseless to the best of my knowledge. Inter-Continental is the team hotel and the squad stayed here during the Adelaide Test match also."
