Rohit Sharma insists Pollard-Starc spat won't happen again
MI captain Rohit Sharma has had to deal with various issues this year. He has faced challenges relating to cricket as well as the general attitude of his players.
In the last match, his star player Keiron Pollard indulged in an ugly spat with opposition player Mitchell Starc. Now, Rohit has insisted that such an incident won’t happen again.
Rohit said: “We all have spoken to him. I thought whatever happened, happened in the heat of the game. Nobody wants to ruin the spirit of the game. It happened and we have spoken about it and we have to move forward now.
“Pollard, we know is an aggressive player. He didn’t do anything purposely. As a captain it was my duty to explain or tell him what sort of behaviour you should have on the field. We have had a word with him and he is okay with that. Hopefully he will not repeat such mistakes.”
Cricket fans appreciate the stand taken by those who have criticized such incidents. It is great to be aggressive on the field, but it should be within certain limits. IPL has already had enough controversies and the administrators need to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. After all, cricket is a gentleman’s game and it should remain the same.
