Indian batsman Rohit Sharma will tie the knot with fiancee Ritika Sajdeh on December 13, Indiatimes.com reports. Prominent cricketers, past and present, including batting Maestro Sachin Tendulkar, is expected to attend the event which will be held at a five-star hotel in Bandra, Mumbai.

Ritika, 28, is a sports event manager based in India’s financial capital and has known Rohit for more than six years. Ritika was managing Rohit Sharma’s off-field commitments for more than five years before the mantle was taken over by her brother Bunty Sajdeh whose company Cornerstone manages the right-hander at present.

The news of the wedding comes on the day Rohit’s teammate in the national side as well at the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL, Harbhajan Singh, tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Geeta Basra. While the Harbhajan-Geeta wedding rituals was spread over five days it is being reported that Rohit Sharma’s wedding will be a short one – a half-day affair to be precise.

Ritika was ever present during the league fixtures of the Mumbai Indians and made it a point to attend the final when Mumbai Indians faced Chennai Super Kings on May 24. Ritika’s presence proved to be a lucky charm as Rohit led MI to their second IPL league title with the skipper himself scoring a half-century.

As reported by Sportskeeda, Rohit had got engaged to his best friend Ritika during the month of May when the eight season of the IPL was underway. Known for his elegant stroke-play, Rohit had proposed to Ritika in true Bollywood fashion as he reportedly drove her to the Borivli Sports Club, the ground where he first started playing cricket and just after midnight, asked the magic question with a solitaire ring in hand.

Deccan Chronicle had quoted Rohit’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad as saying in July that the marriage was most likely to take place in December.

"What I know is no immediate marriage is planned. They are likely to marry in December this year," Rohit’s coach Dinesh Lad had said.

A source close to the couple has now confirmed that the marriage will indeed take place after the conclusion of the four-match Test series between India and South Africa with the final day of the final Test set to be played on December 7.

"It is a good date and most importantly, there won't be any cricketing commitments for Rohit as the Test series against South Africa ends on December 7," a source close to Rohit is quoted as saying by Mid-day.com. "Preparations are on in full swing. The Indian team and Tendulkar will be present for the wedding."
