Ross Taylor is in some phenomenal form from the last couple of years. He has scored 2,027 runs in the last 36 innings between 2017-2019. During this period his average is around 69.89 in the ODI cricket.

After making his debut in 2006, Ross Taylor had gone through many ups and downs. In 2007, he was scoring runs with an average of below 30. It took him some time to settle down in New Zealand lineup but at last, he finally proved his mantle in the limited overs format. He is doing a very decent job for his team over the years. His career stats have a lot to say about his contribution to his team. He has scored 7,848 runs at an impressive average of 47.85 in 198 innings of 213 one-day international matches.

Now Ross Taylor is just 189 runs away from becoming the highest run-getter for New Zealand in ODI cricket. Only former New Zealand captain, Stephen Fleming is ahead of him who has 8,037 runs with an average of 32.41 in 269 innings of 280 ODI matches.

Ross Taylor had played a very crucial inning of 93 runs in the last ODI that was played against India. He is also the highest run-getter of the ongoing series against India from New Zealand. In the last ODI match of ongoing series, he surpassed Stephen Fleming in terms of the most number of catches in ODIs for New Zealand.

Before World Cup 2019 he has a chance to register his name on the top in the list of most runs scored in ODI cricket for New Zealand as they play 5 ODIs before the mega tournament, 2 against India and 3 against Bangladesh next month. Most probably he will reach that mark before World Cup 2019.

India defeated New Zealand and sealed the series in just 3 matches. Apart from his personal achievement, the most important thing is that the New Zealand team really needs him. As the World Cup 2019 is just a few months away from here if Kiwi wants to do something big, Ross Taylor's form and experience will be very decisive for the Black Caps.
