S Sreesanth to play lead role in big-budget film on cricket and IPL

‘Former’ India player S Sreesanth to star in big budget Tollywood film

‘Former’ India pacer S Sreesanth is set to play the role of the lead actor in a big budget movie to be made simultaneously in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil languages. The commercial film, to be directed by renowned filmmaker Sana Yadireddy, will dwell on a ‘spicy’ story of a cricketer and the IPL, PTI report.

“The film will go on floors in September and we are planning to wrap it up in six months,” Yadireddy said, announcing the details of the film. He also said that the film will be dubbed into 14 Indian languages.

On how he got the cricketer on board to act in the film, the director said, “I have seen him performing at many events and always wanted to work with him. When we narrated the story, he liked it very much and gave his nod immediately.

“The film will be in the backdrop of cricket and has a very good love story in it,” he added.

Look forward to good acting career in South: Sreesanth

Sreesanth said that he had accepted the offer because he wanted to “explore another side of life”.

“This is my debut film in South and I am going to work with a big filmmaker like Sana Yadireddy. I can’t ask for more. I am looking forward to a good acting career in South,” he said.

Sreesanth is also to be seen playing a negative role in Pooja Bhatt's Bollywood film "Cabaret", which also has Richa Chadda, and is set to release in 2015.

Notably though, on the day when Sreesanth had been given a clean chit by the court, he had said that he was primarily a cricketer by profession and not a part of the entertainment industry.

It is known that Sreesanth has grown close to the cinema fraternity in the years he has had to spend away from cricket. It is also said that cinema connections paved way for his entry to several international stadiums when he was banned from entering stadiums by the BCCI.
