Sabbir was caught LBW by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan just after he came in to bat.

During Afghanistan’s chase of runs, the cricketer questioned an LBW decision of umpire Sharfuddoula and was also recorded making inappropriate comments to the umpire.

Breach of ICC code of conduct

According to the ICC Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, the usage of inappropriate language is prohibited in an international match.

“Using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match,” the ICC article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conducts read.

Following the enactment of Article 7.3 of the revised code which came into existence four days ago, two demerits points were added to the player’s disciplinary record.

According to article 7.6 of the code, the cricketer will be handed a ban for a test or two ODI matches or two T20 international matches, if awarded another two demerit points in the next 24 months.

According to the ICC, the player had complied with the charges and accepted the sanctions which were proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees without any formal hearing taking place.

Both the on-field and off-field umpires had leveled the charges on the cricketer. According to the norms of ICC, a level one breach means a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
