The Afghanistan ambassador to India, Mr.Shaida M Abdali, has said that cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has accepted his invitation to pay a visit to Afghanistan.

“Meeting the Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar today, and accepting the invitation to visit Afghanistan!!!” Mr. Abdali wrote on his Twitter page on Wednesday.

Mr Shahzada Masoud, the chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board(ACB), had said last week that players such as Tendulkar and others from different countries across the world should come to the country in the future.

He also thanked the Government of India for providing them support.

“We are grateful to both India and Germany for their support.”,he said.

“But what we want now is for teams like India to come any play on our grounds. It would have been so exciting if Sachin Tendulkar had come and played in our country. I hope Mahendra Singh Dhoni can make it.” he went to add.

The Government of India had agreed to provide $1 million for the building of a stadium in Kandahar, a province in the southern part of Afghanistan.

The money was funded under the government’s Small Development Project Scheme.
