New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the steps undertaken by him for the Clean India Campaign, besides also coming forward to adopt a village.

He also informed Modi that he has extended the chain by inviting others to participate in the campaign.
Adopts village under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana
In his Independence day speech, Modi had called for all law-makers to take at least one village under their wing by 2016 and concentrate on improving the infrastructure.
Modi had said: “We are nearly 800 MPs. If before 2019 we develop three villages each, we reach nearly 2,500 villages. If in the light of this scheme, the states also create a similar scheme for MLAs, then 6,000-7,000 more villages can be added."
Tendulkar, accompanied by wife Anjali, said he looked forward to adopting a village, as well, under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and expressed keenness to work towards the development of sports in schools and colleges.
The Prime Minister later confirmed it from his official Twitter account,
I am delighted to know that the sporting legend will adopt a village under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. @sachin_rt
