Sachin Tendulkar announced co-owner of Premier Badminton League franchise Bengaluru Blasters

Sachin now involved with Badminton

Indian Cricket legend and batting icon Sachin Tendulkar has taken a plunge into the world of badminton when he was announced the co-owner of Bengaluru Blasters, which is one of the franchises of the Premier Badminton League. He will be accompanied by Tollywood superstar Chiranjeevi.

“Sachin Tendulkar, Chiranjeevi, Akkineni Nagarjuna and Allu Aravind, besides myself - we all of us have formed a consortium and invested in Bengaluru Blasters,” team Co-Owner and businessman Nimmagadda Prasad was quoted by the PTI.

Sachin is already the co-owner of Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters and his association with Badminton is expected to provide the league a major phillip this season as the league has not yet got off the tracks with flying colours.

The Mumbai-maestro has been in the news over the past few weeks after he came up many radical ideas to maintain the sanctity of Test cricket and First class cricket. He proposed the use of two pitches and two balls to be used in First class cricket, which was later shunned by MCC at its annual delegation.

“Let us have the first innings on a green top with kookaburra balls which would give openers a challenge. Even bowlers will have something. Our spinners will also learn how to bowl with kookaburra on green tops,” Tendulkar had said during an interaction at the Hindustan Times summit last week.

“Now let there be a pitch adjacent to the green top which would be a rank turner. Now the second innings will be played on that track with the SG Test ball, which would also help our batsmen play against quality spin bowling," he further added.

In another interaction with the media, Sachin dispelled all comparisons between him and Virat Kohli.

“I don't see similarities in the playing style. He (Kohli) has his own style. He likes to flick the bat in hand before every ball. It's part of his preparation. I never did that, each batsman does things differently. I feel the new generation has more awareness about health," Sachin said to the Times of India.

It would be interesting to see how this new venture would help Badminton in the game after it received a major boost with PV Sindhu claiming silver at the Rio Olympics.
