Sachin Tendulkar to charge no money for the movie made on his life

The release date for Sachin Tendulkar’s movie is not yet known

In the last few days, all the buzz in the Indian cricketing circles has been about the release of MS Dhoni's biopic, titled ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story”. The movie chronicles the journey of one of India’s most successful captains, providing an insight into his struggles and his eventual success as an international cricketer.

However, Dhoni’s biopic won’t be the only cricketing biopic to hit the movie screens, as Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar gets set to release a movie on his own life, titled ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams”.

The teaser to the movie was released on the 14th of April and so far, four posters of the movie have been released.

As per varied reports, different amounts were speculated to have been charged by the Indian limited-overs captain for his biopic, with the Daily Bhaskar stating that he had charged Rs. 60 crore for the movie while others reporting that he had charged Rs. 20 crores after giving the go-ahead to make the movie based on his life.

Whatever was the sum, it is now known that Tendulkar has charged no money for the movie made on his life. A source close to the former cricketer said that the highest run-getter in Tests and ODIs could not even dream about asking money for the movie from the producer Ravi Bhagchandka.

“The film is produced by Sachin’s friend Ravi Bhagchandka. Sachin couldn’t dream of charging any money from him,” the source said.

Another interesting aspect about the movie is that the younger version of Tendulkar in the movie will be played by his son Arjun, who was persuaded by his father to take up the role.

“Not only did Sachin agree to open up about his life’s experiences to the team, he also persuaded his son to play the young Sachin on screen,” the source added.

The opening three days of Dhoni’s movie saw it collect Rs. 66 crores and on Monday, that went up to Rs 74.51 crores. While the release date for Tendulkar’s movie is not yet known, one can be sure that it would gather as much attention from the public, if not more, as Dhoni’s movie has in its opening week.

The movie will be directed by James Erskine and Tendulkar will be playing himself in the movie.
