Sachin Tendulkar makes an appearance on 'What the Duck' with Vikram Sathaye
Sachin Tendulkar was the latest guest on Vikram Sathaye’s new show ‘What the Duck’. A VIU original series, ‘What the Duck’ sees Vikram Sathaye engage the cricketers with casual questions on their careers and their life. Vikram Sathaye, a stand up comic and author of ‘How Sachin Destroyed My Life’ is the perfect host as he introduces Sachin by mimicing his stance.
VIkram has already hosted Virender Sehwag on this show and will be hosting Zaheer Khan next.
In this episode, the duo delve on a number of topics on Sachin’s illustrious career. Vikram initially asks Sachin the reason behind his patented head nod while gearing up to face the bowlers and the master blaster breaks into a story about his early playing days where a young Harbhajan Singh would always think he is being beckoned with that action.
They then move on to his relationship with good friend Virender Sehwag. Sehwag on the previous epiosde recalled an incident where Sachin used to ask him to visualize the shot before playing it, except Sehwag had no clue what the word visualize even meant.
Superstition has played a big part in Sachin’s success too and he speaks about the time when his brother Ajit Tendulkar refused to left him eat duck before the 1999 World Cup. His wife Anjali would sit in the exact same spot while he was at the crease always and would not even drink water for the entire duration of his innings.
The topic of sleldging is brought up and Sachin tells us how he outfoxed good friend Ajay Jadeja in his last Ranji trophy game. Meetings with Nelson Mandela, dinners at Malaysian restaurants, outfoxing West Indian pacer Pedro Collins, Sachin’s first couple of matches and a whole host of other topics are brought up in this 18 minute special.
