Much to the joy of the Mumbai fans, Sachin Tendulkar is likely to don the Mumbai Indians jersey for the one final time in the Champions League T20 to be held in India from September 17 to October 6. The batting legend announced his retirement from the IPL after Mumbai Indians won the 6th edition of the league last month.

A senior Indian T20 League official said, “The prospects of Sachin playing for the Indian T20 League champions, Mumbai, in the World T20 League is bright. Since the tournament will be held in India this time, the Mumbai management has requested Tendulkar to at least consider playing this tournament. Mumbai has a huge fan base all over India and Tendulkar’s presence definitely becomes a big factor.”

Even though the Little Master retired from the IPL, the apt timing of the Champions League might prompt him to take the field one more time for Mumbai.

Since Sachin has already retired from ODIs, he won’t get a lot of match practice before the Ranji Trophy. The format may be T20 but some serious ‘match-time’ out there in the middle will help him get into the groove as he prepares for the tough South Africa tour,” the official added.
