Sachin?Tendulkar says his mother started the 'Sachin Sachin’ chant

The biopic is set to hit the big screen on May 26

What’s the story?

In the build-up to Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic – Sachin: A Billion Dreams, a lot is being revealed about Tendulkar the off-field person in movie promotions, press meets,  music releases etc. On the occasion of the release of the movie’s second song titled ‘Sachin, Sachin,’ Tendulkar revealed it was his mother who first started the chants ‘Sachin Sachin’.

“My mother started it actually. I used to go play downstairs and to call me back home, mother would call ‘Sachin Sachin’,” Tendulkar said when asked when was the first time he had heard the chant.

The chant, which has been turned into a song now, has inspired the God of cricket to face difficult circumstances in his cricketing career.

“The chants were my supporters’ way of showing their love. I have been inspired by their chant and it has helped me face difficult situations on the field knowing that I have the country with me. I admire the way that Rahman has created an inspirational anthem around this chant,” the Master Blaster added.

The ‘Sachin Sachin’ song is an anthem created by music stalwart AR Rahman and Sukhwinder Singh for Sachin Tendulkar’s biographical film and it is nothing but goosebumps inducing. Directed by James Erskine, the movie is set to release on May 26.

The heart of the matter

The song begins with the famous ‘Sachin Sachin’ chant, and being the genius that he is, music legend AR Rahman has blended those chants with his impeccable tune and come up with yet another masterpiece. And not to forget, the lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil.

The song was launched on May 9 by Sachin, Sukhwinder, Rahman and James. The former Indian stalwart got all nostalgic at the event, as he said that the song brought back all his old memories.

What’s next?

Sachin’s biopic is set to be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Marathi as well, and is expected to be one of the biggest blockbusters of this year.

Even now when Sachin Tendulkar doesn’t take to the field, his mere presence in the Mumbai Indians dugout is enough for any stadium to reverberate the sound of ‘Sachin Sachin’. With the God-like status that he enjoys in the country, one can only expect packed to capacity theatres on May 26.
