Sachin Tendulkar reaches 50,000-run landmark across all formats
In the CLT20 semi-final match against Trinidad and Tobago at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi, Sachin Tendulkar became the first Asian batsman to score 50,000 runs in competitive cricket.
The Master Blaster, whose form has been a cause of concern in the past couple of years, played some delightful strokes reminiscing of his good old days en route to his 31-ball 35 before getting caught behind, while attempting a cut shot, off the bowling of Lendl Simmons.
Sachin Tendulkar is the 16th batsman to reach the landmark of 50,000 aggregate runs. Having scored 67,057 in all forms of cricket, Graham Gooch leads the list.
Among the Indian players, Tendulkar is followed by Rahul Dravid, who has scored 41,650 runs in all formats of the game so far.
Tendulkar has amassed 25,228 runs in first class cricket, 21,999 runs in List A cricket and 2,782 runs in T20 cricket. The 40-year-old achieved the landmark while getting past the 25th run in his knock of 35 runs.
Sachin Tendulkar put together a 90-run partnership with his opening partner Dwayne Smith that laid the foundation for the Mumbai Indians’ successful chase of 154 against the Caribbean outfit.
In doing so, Mumbai Indians’ have set up a final clash against Rajasthan Royals on 6th of October, 2013 in Delhi.
