Sachin Tendulkar talks about his elder brother Ajit's influence on his career

The entire Indian team gave a moving lap of honour to the Little Master after winning the 2011 Cricket World Cup

Sachin Tendulkar, who retired after playing his 200th Test for the Indian cricket team, said that his brother Ajit is the reason behind why he started playing cricket. He also revealed what was the first thing he did after playing his long-lasting innings for India.

"When I retired, the next morning I prepared a cup of tea," Sachin said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a promotional event. "I was asked the question 'what is the first thing that you did'? I woke up, sat in my balcony...it was relaxing. I continue to do those things."

Much to the interest of people, Sachin talked his last day and the final time he got dismissed. He said that when he got out at the Wankhede stadium, he discussed his wicket with his elder brother Ajit.

"On the last day of my career as well when I got out at the Wankhede stadium, we still discussed my dismissal and what I could have done," Sachin said.

The 42-year-old legend told that he always wanted to be like his elder brother, his interest started developing there and soon after watching India win the 1983 World Cup at the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground, he just wanted have the prestigious Trophy in his own hand. And then he started to chase that dream.

"My brother Ajit is the reason why I started playing cricket. I wanted to become like him first. Then I started watching matches and India won the World Cup, and I wanted to have the trophy in my hand. I started chasing my dream from there on," Sachin, a member of the 2011 ODI World Cup-winning squad, said.

He continued and said he used to discuss his batting technique with his brother. Ajit guided Sachin with whatever cricket experienced he had with him.

"My brother having played cricket knew exactly what was needed and I could discuss about my batting technique, the mental aspects of the game.

"I was prepared to take criticism. There were occasions our opinions differed, but I knew that in the end what he was telling me was for my good and I trusted his opinion," Sachin said. "It was all about confidence, belief in someone in whom you trust, you look up to. The judgement and discussions were only in my interest and there are no other motive.”

Sachin retired from international cricket after playing his final Test on November 16, 2013. India went on to win the second and final Test against the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by an innings and 126 runs to win the series 2-0 and present Tendulkar with a perfect farewell gift.
