Sachin Tendulkar to receive Bharat Ratna on February 4
Sachin Tendulkar is likely to receive Bharat Ratna on February 4, 2014. The Indian cricketing legend will be felicitated with India’s highest civilian honor at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, by the Indian president Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, in the ceremony to be held next month, along with Professor CNR Rao, according to the reports from IBN Live.
It is pertinent to add that the decision to confer Tendulkar with Bharat Ratna was taken moments after the Little Master retired on November 16, after completing his 200th Test against West Indies in Mumbai.
It is vital to note that Tendulkar will be the youngest to receive the Bharat Ratna and the first sportsperson to be conferred with the title. It is after a gap of almost five years, a Bharat Ratna is being conferred. The last announcement was in 2009 when Pt. Bhimsen Joshi was honored with the title.
