Sachin Tendulkar turns singer, releases song 'Cricket Wali Beat' on Indian Idol 9
What’s the story?
Sachin Tendulkar has many cricketing feats to his name. But on Sunday night, the God of cricket made another debut – this time as a singer. The Master Blaster collaborated with singing sensation Sonu Nigam for his first ever track 'Cricket Wali Beat'.
Talking about the song, Sonu told IANS: "I am glad to be part of Sachin's new innings. The song that he has sung with me is called 'Cricket Wali Beat'. I was very surprised to see the way he was pitching right. That's why I believe that when God blesses someone with genius, it spills in other faculties too."
He further revealed that a pitch corrector was not used on Sachin’s voice since he was already singing in the correct tone.
"He is a very good singer. We did not use pitch corrector on his voice as he was singing in the right sur (tone) and (despite being) the shy person that he is, he got extremely comfortable the moment I kind of increased the masti (fun) quotient while we were shooting the video. It was wonderful and I am very happy that people are loving the song," Nigam said.
In case you didn’t know…
On Thursday, Tendulkar kicked off his digital innings with a mobile app called 100MB – which is available on Android and iOS. The app aims to connect the iconic cricketer with his fans by bringing all of his social media accounts and updates to one place. The song sung by Tendulkar and Nigam was premiered on the 100MB app on Sunday.
The heart of the matter
The lyrics of the 'Nacho Nacho Nacho Sare Cricket Waali Beat Pe' go something like this: "Gend aayi, bala ghuma, mara chaka, Sachin, Sachin… nacho nacho sab cricket wali beat pe," which roughly translate to, “The ball was delivered, Sachin hit it for a six, Sachin Sachin.. dance everyone to the beats of cricket.”

Meanwhile, Sonu Nigam is a judge on Indian Idol 9 along with composer Annu Malik and choreographer-director Farah Khan. Regarding having Sachin on the show's stage, the singer said that 'Indian Idol' being his family, his house, and his domain, Sachin visiting it to release his song was a matter of pride.
What’s next?
The Little Master, along with the other four members of India’s “Fabulous 5”, will be felicitated at the opening ceremony of the IPL tomorrow. Also, as a celebration of its 10th anniversary, Mumbai Indians will honour the top players of its past and present squad – Sachin Tendulkar, Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh – by felicitating them at a private function.
Author’s Take
While the app 100MB will hopefully bridge the gap between Sachin and his fans, the song is a testament to the fact that his achievements are not just limited to cricket.
