Vinod Kambli and I were completely different as individuals: Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar has said that he and his childhood friend Vinod Kambli were distinctly different individuals who led their lives in a contrasting manner.

Despite sharing a memorable 664-run stand with Tendulkar in school cricket, Kambli could never make it big at the international level, playing only 17 Tests for India between 1993 and 1995.

"I wouldn't want to talk about talent, because that's not for me to judge," Tendulkar was quoted as saying to The Daily Telegraph.

“But if we have to talk about differences, then I would say that his lifestyle was different. We were both individuals with different natures, and we responded differently to various situations. In my case, my family was always there to keep an eye and keep me grounded at all times. I can’t speak for Vinod," the 41-year-old said.

Kambli got numerous opportunities to establish himself at the international level, making a whopping 9 comebacks to the ODI side, before the selectors finally lost hope with the Mumbai left-hander, dropping him for one last and final time in 2000.
