Sachin Tendulkar wants cricket fans to show some maturity
Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has urged the cricket fans to learn from the horrifying Cuttack incident and behave, NDTV reports. He said what happened during the India-South Africa match in Cuttack was not good for the sport.
"What happened during the game is definitely not good for the game. It has happened earlier also. We need learn from these mistakes. We are all passionate about the game. We all love the game so we get disappointed and frustrated at times. There are ways to express that but what happened in Cuttack is certainly not the to way show your emotions," Tendulkar said.
Tendulkar wants Indian cricket fans to show some maturity and added saying that there are better ways to show disappointment in sports.
"I would request all the fans to think about it (over what happened), show some maturity. There are better ways of dealing with disappointment and frustration," he said.
Play during the second T20 International at Barabati Stadium was stopped twice with spectators hurling water bottles to the ground. Fans disappointment from Indian team was clearly visible, but it shouldn't have come out this way.
Many former cricketers and other cricket fraternity blasted the Cuttack's crowd behaviour and took it to social media. Sunil Gavaskar, who was present in Cuttack when the incident happened, said: "If you don't throw valuables when India wins a match, you have no right to throw rubbish when India loses."
South Africa eventually won the game by six wickets to seal the three-match series against India 2-0. The last match of the Twenty20 international series will be played in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on October 8.
The Proteas are in India on a 72-day tour, where they are scheduled to play three T20Is, five one-day internationals and four Test matches. We hope the Cuttack incident which to brought shame to the series does not happen again in the future.
