Sachin Tendulkar's autobiography gets into Limca Book of Records

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar’s career might have been brought to a close in 2013, but he still manages to break records. The Master Blaster’s latest feat came in the world of literature – his autobiography, ‘Playing It My Way’, has entered the Limca Book of Records as the best-selling adult hardback across both fiction and non-fiction categories.

The book, released on November 6, has had 1,50,289 copies confirmed on order subscriptions. It had sold 2.20 lac copies up till June 30, 2015.

The number of orders for the book on the first day itself was more than both pre-order and lifetime sales of the world’s top adult hardbacks like Dan Brown’s Inferno, Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs and JK Rowling’s Casual Vacancy.

The book also holds the record in retail value terms, having logged up Rs. 13.51 crore, with its cover price being Rs. 899.

‘Playing It My Way’ was published by Hachette India and was co-written by Sachin with Boria Majumdar.

The book had received a lukewarm response, with there being allegations that he played it safe while writing the book, but there were passages in the book which were fodder for controversy – his criticism of Greg Chappell and the Multan Test declaration, for example.
