Sachin Tendulkar's wax figure unveiled at SCG
A life-sized wax figure of the Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar was unveiled earlier today at the Sydney Cricket Ground in front of a large crowd.
Sachin’s wax figure was unveiled in the presence of many cricket fans, including the ‘Swami Army’ which is a large group of local Indians who support Indian cricket. They sang Indian chants as the “Little Master” was unveiled at the SCG before becoming a permanent attraction at Sydney’s Madame Tussauds wax museum.
The wax statue which shows Tendulkar in Team India jersey with both his hands raised, is the latest honor bestowed on him after he had received the Order of Australia for his contribution to international cricket last year.
The 39-year-old batsman, who made his debut in 1989, is recognized as one of the best batsman of the game and many Australian cricket fans have witnessed the little master play some fine knocks in the country. At SCG, Tendulkar has scored 3 Test hundred with highest being 241 not out.
Sachin is currently in India representing the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and there is a wide speculation of him retiring from Test cricket which will be the end of a long 23-year international career.
