Salman Khan's sister to produce the film on India's 1983 World Cup triumph
The proposed film on India’s path-breaking 1983 World Cup triumph has been reported to be co-produced by Salman Khan’s sister Alvira and her husband Atul Agnihotri. Bollywood director Kabir Khan has been roped in as the director of the film, but it was earlier decided that Sanjay Puran Singh was elected for the directorial post but due to his unavailability, the former got the nod.
Earlier in September, it was reported by the Mumbai Mirror that Kapil Dev and the others from the victorious team will guide the production team.
We have seen many biopics in the last few years with the likes of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom, Azhar and the latest being the movie on Mahendra Singh Dhoni but there is yet a flick to be made on India’s first major achievement in the world of cricket.

As per the reports of Zee news, Kabir Khan will start working on the film as soon as he ends his commitment with Salman Khan’s upcoming movie “Tubelight.” The publication reported, "It goes on the floors later this year, as soon as Kabir wraps up the in-progress Tubelight with Salman Khan. A-list actors who play the cricketing heroes are in the process of being finalised.”
Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar to act as mentors
“Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Mohinder Amarnath, Kirti Azad, Krishmachari Srikkanth, Syed Kirmani, Yashpal Sharma, Balwinder Sandhu and even Sunil Gavaskar who had to skip the earlier meet because it was his 67th birthday, will be on board as mentors to the actors."

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is also coming up with the movie “Dangal” which is based on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari against all odds to pursue their career in wrestling.
Akshay Kumar has also announced that he is going to present his own sports movie based on India’s first Olympic medal as a free nation. Termed as “Gold”, the project will showcase India’s gold medal triumph at the 1948 London Olympics. Previously, Shah Rukh Khan had been a part of a fictional movie “Chak de India” regarding hockey which was a blockbuster in the box-office.
