Mumbai, 16th May 2018: Jaipur’s Sanskar School came out on top in the battle of schools mentored by batting legend Yuvraj Singh as they beat Chandigarh’s DAV School by six wickets during Monday’s Pro Star League quarter-final tie at DY Patil.

Sanskar’s bowlers restricted their opponents to just 125/7 after DAV won the toss and elected to bat. Man-of-the-match Harshvardhan Singh finished with figures of 2-20. Manan Nahata bagged a brace too, while Anirudh Kaushik and Prince Singh Rathore grabbed one wicket each.

Pace ace Zaheer Khan prepared VN Sule for the quarters, while batting legend VVS Laxman mentored St Marks Boys Town during a week-long unique training camp in Mumbai and Hyderabad respectively in the build-up to the knockouts.

Man-of-the-match Rugved smashed three sixes and eight boundaries to get to an unbeaten 68 off 40 balls, while skipper Vedprakash smashed 53 off 40 (7x4s) to fire VN Sule to 149/3 as they chased down St Marks’ total of 145/5 with 25 balls to spare. The pair put on a partnership of 103 runs for the third wicket.

Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, St Marks captain Mohd Bashir Uddin single-handedly dragged his team to a respectable score of 145 with a cracking knock of 77.

Pro Star League is an U-16 grassroots revolution that was simultaneously contested in 10 cities (Mumbai, Jaipur, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bengaluru) where over 900 schools battled for a chance to be mentored by legends of the sport. Teams that make it to the mentorship phase were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be mentored by Sourav Ganguly (east zone), Yuvraj Singh (north zone), Zaheer Khan (west zone) and VVS Laxman (south zone). Top talent from the tournament will also be scouted for the 2018 Inter-School World Cup.
